Artistic Brief is a modern legal consultancy. We launched in 2020 after rules governing the legal market were changed to introduce a new type of independent lawyer.* Our solicitors are qualified, hold current practising certificates and are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We provide legal advice on a range of company commercial and contractual issues.
We fix our fees up front and keep them affordable by minimising our overheads.

*S10.2(a) SRA Standards and Regulations (StaRs) came into effect on 25 November 2019 and introduced the SRA-regulated independent solicitor authorised to provide non-reserved legal services through a limited company.

We have more than a decade of experience representing visual artists and managing art projects from concept to installation.*

Hospitality Sector

We supply contemporary art to hotels, restaurants and bars working alongside interior designers, architects and our clients’ management teams. You can commission bespoke artworks reflecting your brand identity. We can incorporate these unique images into luxury merchandise to support your PR and marketing strategy.

Film Industry

We obtain licences from global film franchises for our artists to create movie-inspired artworks. These artworks can be used for unique pre-launch promotion and PR. We specialise in brand extension through art and image-based merchandise.

Homes and Offices

We supply art for homes and offices. We work with individual buyers and business clients to source paintings and sculpture. We manage the process from identifying your art needs and proposing artworks to arranging framing and installation. All art is supplied with a certificate of authenticity suitable for insurance purposes.

Janine Collins qualified as a solicitor in 1997 at well-known London law firm, Trowers & Hamlins. She then worked as a commercial litigator at Maclay, Murray & Spens (now part of Dentons) and White & Case.

Janine has taught trainee solicitors Professional Standards for many years.
In 2008 she established Go Figurative, an agency representing visual artists. As Legal Director, she negotiated commercial contracts and partnerships, as well as complex licensing arrangements. Additionally Janine set up an art rental programme and established an art gallery. She was responsible for all legal and compliance matters including GDPR and oversaw investment into the business.

In 2020 Janine launched Artistic Brief to combine her legal skills and experience of the art world.

Janine is a trustee at the Anglo Jewish Association, a charity providing financial assistance and support to students, survivors and refugees.
